Saturday Art Class is a non-profit organization that provides visual arts and social-emotional learning (SEL) education to children from low-income communities in India. About Senior Associate, Research and Impact:
The Senior Associate – Curriculum (Visual Arts Specialist) plays a key role in strengthening and expanding Saturday Art Class's visual arts curriculum across programs and partnerships.This role sits at the intersection of arts education, curriculum design, research, and implementation. You will work closely with artists, educators, schools, and partner organizations to design learning experiences that build creativity and self-expression among children.We are looking for an arts practitioner and educator with professional experience in visual arts, arts education, creative learning, or cultural programming, who is passionate about expanding access to meaningful arts-based learning experiences.
Roles and responsibilities:
Visual Art Curriculum Research & Design
- Research visual arts practices, contemporary art, traditional art forms, and artist-led learning approaches to inform curriculum and program design.
- Design visual arts curriculum, workshop modules, and learning resources that foster creativity, artistic skills, and self-expression.
- Contextualize curriculum and creative experiences for diverse state contexts and student needs.
- Prototype, test, and iterate new curriculum ideas based on classroom observations, educator feedback, and student engagement.
Creative Program Development & Implementation
- Conceptualize, plan, and implement arts-based programs, workshops, artist engagements, and creative learning experiences across partners.
- Create opportunities for students to engage with artists, exhibitions, festivals, and creative communities through curriculum, workshops, and special projects.
- Develop supporting resources, artwork samples, presentations, and documentation for program delivery.
- Gather feedback and insights from implementation to strengthen future programs and curriculum.
- Contribute to the development of open-access arts education resources, toolkits, and creative learning experiences that can be used by educators and organizations at scale.
- Identify, curate, and adapt artistic practices, workshop formats, and creative learning approaches from the wider arts ecosystem for integration into SArC's programs and platforms
Partner & Artist Engagement & Collaboration
- Build and nurture relationships with artists, cultural practitioners, museums, galleries, educational institutions, and partner organizations.
- Support partnerships, proposals, and outreach efforts that expand access to arts education and creative learning opportunities.
- Identify and represent SArC in relevant arts festivals, fairs, exhibitions, conferences, and creative forums to build networks, partnerships, and visibility for our work.
- Engage with the wider arts ecosystem to bring new artistic practices, collaborations, and opportunities into SArC's programs and curriculum.
- Contribute to organizational thought leadership around arts education, creativity, and creative learning through publications, presentations, and external engagements.
- Represent SArC in external forums and contribute to conversations around visual arts education, creativity, and social-emotional learning.
